Abstract Art –
Learn the steps to creating your own expressive abstract art.
Suggested supplies: 8 x 8 or similar-sized canvas, acrylic paints (yellow, red, magenta, blue, phthalo blue, phthalo green, purple, white, black), ruler, pencil, palette knife or old credit card, large flat brush, small round brush and a detail brush, acrylic black marker if you have one.

Tuesday, July 14 Plein Aire Workshop 1 to 4 p.m.
Learn the basics of plein air (outdoor) painting with oil paints. Val Speer, Instructor.
Location will be outdoors at Kinsmen Park in Strathmore. Paint, solvent, brushes, palettes and canvases will be provided. Please bring an easel if you have one and outdoor items such as a sunhat, water bottle, sunscreen etc. If you prefer, also bring a chair and a folding table. Boards with clips will be available to those without easels. Carpooling available.

Composition in Art
One of our experienced members will present a guide to creating art with pleasing composition. Then you will have a chance to practice using reference photos of your choice.
Suggested supplies: Several pieces of paper for sketching, pencil, eraser, ruler. Each artist is asked to bring several photos that they have taken with the thought of painting one day. If the photos could be enlarged to at least 8.5 x 11, and printed in black & white that would be the best.
