I knew that I wanted to be an artist from the time I was in Elementary School.  I was reminded a few years ago during a lunch with several school pals, that they would always have me do their art projects.  Unfortunately going to Business College to become a Legal Assistant got in the way of becoming an artist but I did manage to attend evening classes at College of Art in Calgary for 3 years when my children were young.  I did not paint again until I retired from the law firm in 1999.

I have since retiring attended classes held by well known painters such as Jack Rigoux, Jean Geddes, Doug Swinton, and took workshops from Mike Svob, Jerry Markham, Doug Swinton, Nancy Lynn Hughes and Alan Wylie, to name a few.

I paint mostly from my own photos of horses and cattle but I also love to paint early Calgary street scenes and old family photos.  I think that color can transform an old black and white photo into something special.  I love to put my own color interpretation into the old black & white images of years ago.

I am a founding member of the Chestermere Fine Art Guild.  I am a past member of the Leighton Art Centre; Federation of Canadian Artists, Calgary Branch and an active member of Calgary Artists’ Society, presently VP, and have participated in their shows every year since joining in the early 2000s.  I have participated in the Calgary Stampede Western Art Gallery juried shows for at least 6 years; the Western Art Auction, Calgary Stampede in 2014.

I plan on painting as long as I can hold a brush.
